SAND + FOG was born of a vision of three women who believed candles should not only smell good, but look good too. Kristi, Elisa, and Jill are living proof that the California Dream is alive and well, and they hope to bring light and happiness into your life through their thoughtfully designed, luxuriously fragranced candles.

Our scented candles are free of lead and zinc, and we do not use any of the potentially hazardous phthalates regulated by the CPSC. We do not test on animals, nor do we hire any third parties to do animal testing for us. While we do not intentionally use animal-based products, we cannot speak to the testing process of our raw ingredients.

As with almost all scented candles, our fragrance contains both natural and synthetic ingredients. We adhere to the standards set by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) and follow the National Candle Association (NCA) for safety standards. The fragrance development typically takes anywhere between 24-36 months, during which time the fragrances are paneled among a select group of qualified consumers, tested for product stability, and reviewed for safety and compliance.

Our 100% cotton wicks, made in the USA, are lead-free and provide a clean, even burn. Our 12 oz candles have 2 wicks, our 24 oz candles have 3 wicks, and our 36 oz candles have 7 wicks, ensuring a long-lasting, luxurious experience.

Once you've finished burning your candle, you can reuse our sustainable wood lids and glass vessels throughout your home, making them not only beautifully designed, but also eco-friendly.

When it comes to candle safety, we recommend burning the candle within sight, keeping it out of the reach of children and pets, and never burning it on or near anything that can catch fire. Remove all wrapping, labels, and decorations before lighting, and place the candle on a temperature-safe surface away from other heat sources. Keep the wick trimmed to 1/4" at all times, and extinguish the flame if it smokes, shortening the wick as needed. Burn the candle for 3 to 4 hours at a time, keeping the wick centered, and avoid burning the last 1/4" of wax in the jar to prevent glass cracking.

The fragrance notes of our candles are carefully crafted to provide a harmonious and long-lasting aroma. The top notes, such as rosemary, mint, lemon, and green cardamom, make the initial impression. The middle notes, including eucalyptus and lavender, bring the top and base notes together, while the base notes, such as amberwood, sandalwood, musk, moss, and Tonka bean, create the final impression.
